xIpakitine is a feed supplement for dogs and cats. It has been developed for the support of kidney disease treatment. It contains chitosan (molluscs and crustaceans) and calcium carbonate.
Ipakitine may be used during all stages of renal failure. As a preventative or as an accompanying measure Ipakitine may be fed alone. Ipakitine can also be administered in conjunction with diets.
Numerous studies have shown the benefits of phosphate reduction in cats and dogs suffering from kidney failure. Ipakitine contains calcium carbonate a proven phosphate binding agent which lowers the absorption of phosphates from the intestines. The better phosphate balance has a positive effect on renal function, thus prolonging the survival time.
Ipakitine is available in powder form. It can can be optimally mixed with the wet food and can begin its immediate effect (phosphate bond).
Ipakitine is particularly suitable for patients that refuse to eat prescription diets such as Hills k/d or Royal Canin Renal diet.
Ingredients: Lactose, calcium carbonate, chitosan, hydrolysed sy protein.
Ipakitine administration: 1g / 5kg body weight twice daily, mixed with food, for up to 6 months initially. One level scoop measures 1g of powder. It is recommended that a check up is performed every 6 months. Administration can be life-long. Allow free access to fresh water during administration.
